Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir has 80 percent area which is not kashmir. The length of the area under illegal occupation of pakistan is approximately 400 km long and width varying from 15 km to 65 km. Kashmiri is spoken by roughly 5% of the population and in 1998 census number of people who spoke kashmiri were merely 132,450. Most of the native residents of POJK are not of Kashmiri ethnicity; rather, they could be called “Jammuites” due to their historical and cultural links with Jammu.
In 1947 immediately after the independence of India a Qabaili attack supported by pakistan was perpetrated on the Princely state of Dogras. On 22nd October 1947 accession of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir happened when the then Maharaja of the princely state signed the instrument of accession to join the Dominion of India. It is celebrated in the union territory to remember the heroics of Indian Army who immediately after the Independence on 15th August 1947 had a tough task to save gullible people of the region from the Tribal barbarians who perpetrated war crimes like rape and civilian butchering on the behest of pakistan. This attack was the worst in the history and the nature of the war was similar to the present day Talibans.
Unilateral ceasefire was declared by the then PM of India J L Nehru on the request of Sheikh Abdullah because of the nefarious designs of the founder of national Conference formerly known as Muslim Conference. Ceasefire was unilaterally declared to snatch powers from jammu and shift to srinagar. Despite having lost a large piece of land to pakistan which we could have easily captured Jammu Province was still bigger than Kashmir Province but a wrong narrative is propagated and fed to the world which is Kashmir. Kashmir is a very small region in the actual map of the princely state of J&K ruled by Dogra Dynasty for centuries.
If you look closely you will find only two divisions namely North Kashmir and South Kashmir which acceded to India when the Maharaja signed the instrument of Accession for the whole state of J&K. Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is not Kashmir but parts of Jammu province. pakistan had occupied parts of Poonch , Mirpur, Bimbar, parts of Rajouri and Muzaffarabad and these are not parts of Kashmir.
Facts were distorted for the last 70 years and the world is unaware of the fact that Kashmir is a very small portion of the princely state of J&K. A large geographical portion of the map shown is ladakh , baltistan, Gilgit , Hunza up to Chitral is part of the Ladakh and Gilgit/Baltistan. Jammu province consists of 10 districts (Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri) and this is not part of Kashmir. For decades this is portrayed as kashmir.
Jammu is not Kashmir and we need to change the narrative if it is wrongly propagated by the vested interest groups. Kashmir lobby tried to distort facts and portray Jammu as kashmir which is completely wrong and all the areas illegally occupied by Pakistan like Mirpur, parts of Poonch, Rajouri have closer to the dogra culture and are not distantly related to Kashmir. kashmir narrative is based on falsehood and propaganda and is completely against the interests of Jammu province.
New map of of the princely state of J&K after the J&K reorganisation bill 2019 is a befitting reply to the false narrative put forth by secessionist forces. The region in blue is Ladakh which comprises of Kargil , Gilgit , Baltistan and other lesser known areas. The one in yellow is jammu and kashmir where most of the land illegally occupied by pakistan is from the bordering province of jammu and kashmir is sandwiched between jammu on the bordering side and ladakh on the other side of india. Western media need to go into the details of the fake kashmir narrative and get their facts right by portraying the right picture of the region and give due share to other communities, cultures , traditions who were under constant attack by the propagandists and vested interest groups.
The fake narrative based on falsehood and painting the billboards to show a picture which suits their agenda. Jammu has not given due share by the writers and geopolitical analysts. “Jammu is not Kashmir” should be loud and clear and to remove J from POJK is a clear K narrative and POJK doesn’t suit their narrative. Jammu has a history of Dev Dynasty, Dogra Dynasty and the culture , heritage and traditions are a testimony of old civilization. Last 70 years were an attempt to distort the facts and write off our history by burning books, museums, government documents, destroying our heritage , forts and other monuments.
